From the Top, the preeminent showcase for young musicians comes to Weber Sate University’s Austad Auditorium in Ogden, Utah to tape a radio broadcast on Thursday, March 8 at 7:30pm. The popular NPR program hosted by acclaimed pianist Christopher O'Riley will feature the amazing performances and captivating personal stories of extraordinary young classical musicians from across the country. This episode is presented by Weber State University Cultural Affairs. From the Top’s 2011-12 National Tour is sponsored by U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management. Local support for the performance comes from Weber County RAMP.

 

KUSU-FM 91.5 (Utah Public Radio) in Logan, UT, airs From The Top on Fridays at2pm with a repeat airing on Sunday nights at 9pm. The program is heard on over 200 stations nationwide.

 

The broadcast taping features the local Midnight Duo, comprised of 13-year-old violinist Aubree Oliverson from Orem, Utah, and 14-year-old pianist and Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Anastasia Magamedova from Murray, Utah. The duo will perform the third movement from Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 35 by Peter Illyich Tchaikovsky. Trenton Chang from Logan will play the piano. Also on the broadcast: 18-year-old soprano Hannah Urias from McAllen, Texas. More performers will be selected in the coming weeks.

 

This episode will air nationally the week of April 2, 2012 and on Utah Public Radio Friday, April 6 at 2pm and Sunday, April 8 at 9pm.
